Memory Days finalizing festivities

March 6, 2013 — The Memory Days Committee met Monday to continue ironing out details for this year’s festivities on Memorial Day weekend.

Among the lineup of planned events is the Miss Memory Days Pageant, Classic Rock Night with Hung Jury and City Heat, Art in the Park, a talent show, Main Street parade and numerous other activities for all ages.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Tradition and Pride” and the logo will feature an combined image of the historic courthouse and the Carter County Justice Center.

Some events that were held last year, such as the golf scramble, the quilt show and the motorcycle show, have not yet been confirmed for this year’s celebration.

Sponsored by the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce, this year’s Memory Days festivities will be held May 19-25 in downtown Grayson.

Organizations desiring to take part in the lineup of events must contact Bob Caummisar at 606-474-9522 by March 15 to be included in the program. There is no charge.

The Memory Days Committee will meet again on April 1 to finalize promotional material for this year’s celebration and the lineup of events.

Joe Lewis can be reached at or by telephone at 286-4201.
