May 22, 2013 — Blue skies, good food and warm spirits marked the occasion Saturday as the Olive Hill Chamber of Commerce held its annual spring mixer.
The event was held in conjunction with an open house event at Scenic Hills Realty on Railroad Street.
Attendees were treated to desserts and live music just across the street at the historic downtown depot.
More than 100 persons turned out for the event which was intended as an opportunity for business owners in the community to network with each other.
The Chamber holds mixers twice a year, one in the spring and another in the fall.
Saturday’s large turnout is a boon for Chamber President Curtis Owens, who has been outspoken in his desire to see the organization expand its membership and influence in the community.
The next Chamber-sponsored event will be the Homecoming festivities set to take place around the Fourth of July holiday.
According to Owens, this year’s event will have some new twists.
“We’ll have the official Nationwide NASCAR racing vehicle here for people to look at after the parade. We’ll also have a race simulator that people can get into and check out as well,” Owens said.
