Olive Hill Homecoming lineup unveiled

June 26, 2013 — The annual homecoming celebration in Olive Hill kicks off this weekend, packed with familiar activities as well as new events designed to provide all-day entertainment.

One of the new attractions will be the official show car of the NASCAR Nationwide Series, which will be on display Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

In addition to the opportunity to see a NASCAR stock car firsthand, guests also will be able to take a spin around the track in the Nationwide racing simulator and spin a prize wheel for a chance to win NASCAR prizes.

There will also be several competitive eating events throughout the afternoon with six participants chosen at random from purchased tickets.

Categories will include pizza, watermelon, ice cream, sub sandwiches, hamburgers and cake – with all food donated by local restaurants.

Tickets for the competitive eating participation raffle will cost 25 cents each with all proceeds donated to Widow's Home Repair Fund and the I-Farm project.

Various local personalities will also take their respective turns in a dunking booth with one throw for one dollar or three throws for two dollars.

Several events are also back again on Saturday for this year's homecoming.

First Christian Church of Olive Hill will hold its annual free pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at its new location on Caleb Powers Lane. Those with questions about the breakfast can contact David Gee at 316-2973.
