Results of Tygart's Creek study to be released

July 3, 2013 — A public forum to release the long-awaited results of the Tygart's Creek hydrological study has been set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 at the Senior Community Center.

The study, which carried a hefty $300,000 price tag, was conducted by Stantec – an outside firm that provides professional consulting services in planning, engineering and environmental sciences.

Stantec also provided flood damage evaluation services for the City of Olive Hill after downtown businesses filed insurance claims with Kentucky League of Cities to cover their heavy losses.

Representatives from the firm will be on hand at the public forum to discuss the results of the study with the public.

“It's important for the community to hear these results,” said Mayor Kenny Fankell, who informed the Journal-Times of the event.

A special City Council meeting will be held directly following the public forum for city lawmakers to ask questions of their own regarding Stantec's findings.
