Redistricting bill passed, signed

Aug. 23, 2013 —       Gov. Steve Beshear wasted no time Friday afternoon in signing the legislative redistricting bill passed earlier in the day by the General Assembly.

The new maps now must be accepted by a  panel of three federal judges hearing two lawsuits challenging earlier reapportionment efforts.

Under the bill passed and signed Friday, Sen. Robin Webb keeps Carter and Greenup counties, picks up Boyd County and loses Lewis, Mason, Bracken and Robertson counties.

Rep. Jill York retains Carter County, loses Lewis County and picks up Lawrence.
