Sept. 18, 2013 — Kentucky State Police are investigating a crash that claimed a life Sunday evening on I-64 in Carter County.

Myong S. Tran, 53, of Lexington, was operating a Hyundai Elantra eastbound on I-64 around 7:35 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, traveled into the median and overcorrected.

The vehicle then traveled back across both eastbound lanes and struck an embankment. During the collision, Tran was ejected from the vehicle and received serious injuries.

She was initially transported to St. Claire Regional Medical Center and later moved to the UK Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The KSP said Tran was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Alcohol usage is not suspected at this time.

Carter County sheriff’s deputies, Carter County EMS, Olive Hill Fire Department and the Olive Hill Police Department also assisted at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper David Hobbs.
