Fultz resigns from Olive Hill Council

April 17, 2013 —        At the end of Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Council member Angie Johnson Fultz officially announced her resignation from the city’s governing body.

“I recently got married and I’m in the process of moving to Sandy Hook to live with my husband, so I won’t be living in the city limits anymore,” Fultz said.

Fultz expressed that she felt resigning was the right thing to do because she didn’t want to give the impression she was still residing in Olive Hill, even though she still does own a home here.

“I’ve built too much integrity to do something like that. Keeping my word is important,” Fultz said.

Fultz won her Council seat in the November 2012 election and her resignation comes just four months after taking office this past January.

“I’m going to take away a lot of things from my time. I have a new understanding of barriers and the work it takes to institute change. And more than anything, I now understand how much the City Council needs the community to be involved,” Fultz said.

Her resignation will become effective on May 15, at which point the City Council will have thirty days to appoint someone else to fill the vacant seat. If no action is taken within that time period, the Governor will appoint a new Council member.
