Jan. 15, 2014 — Two Carter County men have been arrested in connection with heroin.
Last Tuesday, Sheriff Casey Brammell and Deputy Ryan McDavid were at the junction of KY 1 and KY 7 where they spotted a vehicle with a passenger, Tracy Campbell, 48, of Grayson, who had outstanding warrants.
The officers initiated a traffic stop and proceeded to arrest Campbell. Upon the arrest, they were informed that Campbell had thrown drugs out of the window.
During the investigation, Deputy McDavid located pills and heroin in a ditch.
Campbell was charged with first degree trafficking in controlled substance and being a persistent felony offender. He is lodged in the Carter County Detention Center.
The case of a Willard man accused of selling heroin is headed to the grand jury.
Aaron Uhlmann, 43, was apprehended by Sheriff’s Deputy James Frint on Dec. 22. Uhlmann was accused of severely beating his wife and fleeing the scene.
While interviewing Uhlmann, Frint became concerned about a Carter County resident that Uhlmann claimed to have shot during an attempted robbery.
“Uhlmann tried to shoot Roger Miller, but they jammed the barrel up and when Miller pushed the barrel away from him the gun blew up,” Sheriff Casey Brammell said.
Miller, 53, gave the sheriff’s office permission to search his home when they arrived on Dec. 24.
Brammell and Deputy Matt Morrison recovered a substance believed to be heroin and other drug paraphernalia.
Miller was charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance and his case was bound over to the grand jury. He is lodged in the Carter County Detention Center and no bond has been set.
