Lawhorn arrested for heroin

July 31, 2013 — An Olive Hill man was arrested Thursday after a controlled delivery was made of a package containing approximately 28.5 grams of substance believed to be heroin.

Timothy Buddy Lawhorn, 31, was charged with first degree trafficking in a controlled substance greater than 2 grams.

Detectives with the Fivco Area Drug Enforcement Task Force (FADE), working in cooperation with the United States Postal Service made the arrest after an investigation that began several weeks ago. FADE and the US Postal Inspectors Office continue to investigate the incident and more charges could be pending.

“We got some information that some suspicious deliveries were being made in the area,” a FADE representative told the Journal-Times. “Someone was expecting a package and we were there for the delivery.”

FADE officers said that paying $30 to ship a $20 item express always looks suspicious.

“The drugs were hidden inside a regular-looking digital alarm clock,” the officer said. “Fade is doing ongoing parcel interdiction, through all carriers. It wasn’t the first and won’t be the last.”

Lawhorn is lodged in the Carter County jail. Bail has been set at $100,000.

The Fivco Area Drug Enforcement Task Force (FADE) is made up of detectives of the Flatwoods, Raceland, Vanceburg, Olive Hill and Russell Police Departments and the Carter County Sheriff’s Department FADE operates in Greenup, Carter, and Lewis Counties.
