Pharmacy worker arrested on the job

Feb. 6, 2013 — A Rite Aid pharmacy employee was arrested Friday for public intoxication while on the job.

According to Grayson police, an officer was dispatched to the pharmacy after a customer called 911 to report the worker's behavior.

Alisha Maggard, 28, of Sandy Hook, was arrested at the scene and charged with public intoxication.

When police arrived, they say the customer and other employees complained that Maggard was “jacked up.”

According to KRS 525.1, a person can be charged with public intoxication when he/ she “appears under the influence of a controlled substance, or other intoxicating substance, excluding alcohol...not therapeutically administered, to the degree that he may endanger himself or other persons or property.”

Maggard was released on bond the following day from the Carter County Detention Center.

At press time Tuesday, calls to the Rite Aid corporate headquarters had not been returned.

It is unclear what position Maggard held in the pharmacy or if her arrest will affect her employment.

According to the company's code of ethics document published in 2011, Rite Aid has a zero tolerance policy with respect to drug and alcohol-related policy violations.

The Grayson store is located at 100 South Carol Malone Boulevard.
