5 arrested for organized crime, heroin

April 30, 2014 — A case of organized crime and heroin trafficking has been bound over to the grand jury.

Steven Connor, 35, Margaret Sturgill, 28, and Greg Rose, 50, all of Grayson, as well as Marissa Blevins, 19, of West Jefferson, Ohio, and Brandon Mulford, 19, of Galloway, Ohio, were arrested April 19.

The group appeared in Carter District Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing.

Detective Travis Steele testified that a confidential informant gave money to Rose, who then met with Conner and Sturgill.

Conner and Sturgill then went to a hotel room where they allegedly purchased heroin from Blevins and Mulford.

The confidential informant arranged a second buy of heroin from Roe, and at that time, the FIVCO Area Drug Enforcement task force arrested the three individuals.

FADE was able to obtain a warrant for the hotel room and then arrested Blevins and Mulford.

More than $11,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia were seized in the hotel raid.

Blevins, Mulford, Sturgill and Conner were charged with first degree trafficking in a controlled substance and engaging in organized crime.

Rose was charged with engaging in organized crime and operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Two additional warrants were also served against Rose at the time of his arrest.

All five individuals are housed in the Carter County Detention Center and are being held on $50,000 cash bonds.
