Glass to serve as alcohol administrator

Grayson takes another step toward alcohol sales

Aug. 21, 2013 —

Two businesses ran notices of their intent to sell alcohol in last week’s edition of the Journal-Times. Others can be found in today’s classified section.

The Council welcomed new police chief, Kevin “Mooch” McDavid, who asked for an additional officer to be hired.

“The mayor and I had a lot of meetings this week,” McDavid said. “If we don’t hire someone soon we are going to get ourselves in trouble with the budget because of overtime.”

The GPD is short two officers at the moment – due to medical leave of one and the recent firing of an officer.

Council also approved the final budget for 2012-13. City Clerk Cindy Stratton said $17,967 was used from rollover monies in order to balance the old year budget.

Rollover monies from previous years accumulate in a separate account that the city uses for unforeseen liabilities.

The next meeting of Grayson City Council is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m.

Leeann Akers can be reached at or by phone at 474-5101.
