July 9, 2014 — Thursday is the deadline for Olive Hill businesses to apply for a retail package liquor license.
The Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control advertised the deadline in the June 11 issue the Journal-Times to start the application process.
Based on population, Olive Hill will be allotted two package liquor licenses. Recipients of those licenses are selected by the state.
As of Monday, the City of Olive Hill had received two applications for package liquor sales, two for malt beverage sales and no applications for liquor or malt beverages by the drink.
City Attorney Derrick Willis, who also serves as the city’s ABC administrator, said that he is unsure of when alcohol sales will start.
