Students at East Carter High School got a late start to classes on Wednesday morning after an incident of vandalism.
Reports indicate that an upstairs hallway in the school was sprayed with the contents of a fire extinguisher and silly string. Members of the janitorial, maintenance and instructional staff, as well as Central Office employees, were reportedly cleaning up the mess so student could return to class.
While the clean up took place, students were held in the gymnasium and returned to classes around 10:30 a.m.
Some students with medical concerns were signed out in fear of the fire extinguisher contents, which are chemical, causing breathing issues.
This is the latest in a line of vandalism incidents at the school. Hundreds of crickets were released just days before the May 2013 graduation. The involved parties, all seniors, were not permitted to participate in the ceremony.
The Grayson Police Department is investigating the incident.
