Help a cancer patient in need by taking part in a benefit for Keith Ramey of Grayson.
Ramey, owner and operator of RameyÕs Construction, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare type of brain cancer. He underwent brain surgery in February in an attempt to remove the tumor. In March, Ramey began daily radiation and chemotherapy treatments and has not been able to work as the treatments cause him to be very sick.
The surgery, hospitalization, treatments and transportation to and from the hospital for treatments are creating an enormous financial burden on Ramey and his wife, Beverly. As the couple does not have medical insurance to cover medical bills, friends and family are asking everyone to join the benefit scheduled for Saturday, May 3 at Carter Caves Pool Shelter from noon until dark.
RameyÕs sister-in-law, Norma Jean Francia, said the entire family urges the community to take part in the benefit. ÒYou donÕt know what medical expenses are until you face cancer,Ó Francia commented. ÒKeith and Beverly are struggling with expenses right now while they travel for KeithÕs treatments everyday. The price of gas is so high and they still have their regular monthly bills and expenses to cover. ItÕs just all been too much for them to handle. We just hope everyone will come out and help them with their struggles.Ó
The benefit will include music, food (donations appreciated), a silent auction and other items for sale. There will be an inflatable bounce house and/or slide for the children. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the festivities while helping someone in need.
