Jeff Tuttle Live Saturday
By Myra Hogan, managing editor
April 9, 2008 —
Country music recording artist Jeff Tuttle will be in concert Saturday, April 12, 7 p.m. at the West Carter High School gym. His concert will conclude a day of activities planned to bring awareness and help to local drug-affected individuals and families.
Tuttle presently resides in Bowling Green and is currently on tour, entertaining fans with his new CD release titled “Livin’ Like A Millionaire (ain’t got a dime)”.
Many will recognize Tuttle from “Country Today”, a Country Music Magazine TV show he hosted for three years. Tuttle is also the former and original owner of the MCFL semi-pro football team “Southern Michigan Timberwolves” from the town where he grew up in Monroe, Michigan.
“We want everyone to know about this concert,” said Dr. Frank Lyons, organizer of the “First Annual Olive Hill Spring Clean Up”. “Tuttle is volunteering his time and presenting the show free of charge. He believes in what we are doing to help our local residents.”
Tuttle appeared on the front cover of Recovery Solutions magazine in May 2007.
“I am a person in long-term recovery from drug dependence (opiates),” Tuttle stated. “I am also an entertainer (singer/songwriter) that has dedicated my life to try to help remove the stigma associated with "the disease of addiction" and to show that people can and do recover and can lead a positive and productive life and be a contributing member of their community and society. I am one individual among millions who is successfully living as a positive, contributing member of the community.”
Tuttle invites anyone to contact him by email (jeefftuttle@hotmail.com). He has talked with countless individuals from all walks of life who have an opiate dependency.
“While I am no expert, I will be more than glad to discuss anything to do with "the disease of addiction" with anyone and will share any information that I have found,” Tuttle explained. He said he came close to death during his five and a half year “misadventure”.
With Suboxone (buprenorphine), what Tuttle refers to as a “miracle pill”, he was able to survive and has been free from drug dependence for three and a half years.
Dr. Lyons has 30 patients now on a treatment using Suboxone (a receptor blocker), which is his limit for the first year as a trained provider for the program.
“This is probably the most rewarding thing we are doing right now,” Lyons said. “In October my very first patient will be coming off the treatment.”
After offering this treatment for one year, Lyons can then apply to treat 100 patients.
Screening possible candidates for the treatment keeps Dr. Lyons busy, as he receives several calls a day for help and states his waiting list is longer than his patient list.
The events for the “First Annual Olive Hill Spring Clean Up” will take place at Dr. Lyons’ parking lot (beside Olive Hill Elementary School and across from McDonalds) and are as follows:
• 6 a.m.: volunteer sign/in and organization, race day registration
• 7-9 a.m.: 5k/10k race (begins/ends at Olive Hill Elementary), 50/50 raffle begins
• 8-9 a.m.: vendors/exhibitors set up/start (will include a Suboxone informational booth)
• 10 a.m.: race awards, recognitions, announcements
12 (noon) Live Auction
• 4-5 p.m. tables close, tear down

All proceeds will go to the “Annual Olive Hill Spring Clean Up” charitable non-profit fund to help with education in the school system and to help drug-dependent individuals who are in great need and cannot afford treatment.
