Musgrave faces more charges

April 9, 2008 — A Carter County man already incarcerated on charges of rape and sexual abuse of a minor was charged Feb. 12 with 10 additional charges out of Elliott County of first-degree rape and one charge of sexual abuse.

Norton D. Musgrave, 48, was arrested in February, following an extensive investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective Jim Goble concerning a Carter County female minor under the age of 16.

Musgrave was charged at that time with 16 counts of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy. Since his arrest, he has remained in the Carter County Detention Center on a $75,000 full-cash bond.

As the investigation continued, police were able to uncover additional information concerning the same female minor. That information was presented April 1 to an Elliott County grand jury.

The grand jury indicted Musgrave with the additional charges of first-degree rape and sexual abuse. Goble served Musgrave with the indictments at the CCDC.

Musgrave now faces 26 counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.

To protect the victim’s rights, the identity and relationship of the victim to the suspect has been withheld.
