Tom T. Hall "Homecoming on the Hill" set for May 17

April 2, 2008 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and Olive Hill’s own, Tom T. Hall will be the featured artist during the concert portion of Olive Hill’s Tom T. Hall’s Homecoming on the Hill, Legacy Series 2008.

The concert is an entire day of festivities at the historic Old Olive Hill High School in Olive Hill, Saturday, May 17.

Sponsored by the Olive Hill Historical Society, this day will be devoted to showcasing the talents of individuals who have connections to the school on the hill.

“This festival is a homecoming and a celebration of the school’s legacy,” said Linda Lowe, second vice president of the historical society. “It is also an opportunity for folks to give back, both in terms of promoting the building as an arts center and helping to fund the building’s restoration,” Lowe added. All proceeds from the day will be used to support the building.

Lowe is most excited about Mr. Hall’s willingness to come and donate his time performing a full-set of songs. “He always said he would come back when we had the auditorium restored,” she said. “We want to give him a true homecoming tribute.”

The day starts with an art fair, which runs from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. There will be booths exhibiting and selling a variety of arts and crafts, plus live performances and demonstrations throughout the day by artists who have connection to the old school.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. featuring Tom T. with Don Rigsby and Midnight Call, as well as other legacy artists George Molton, Scott Tackett, Jane Sparks Tatum and Julia Sparks (with their band Laurel Branch) and Sasha Colette with Rob McNurlin.

Tickets for the fair are $5 and will be available at the door.

Concerts tickets are $20 and $30, and went on sale Tuesday at Olive Hill Commercial Bank, Grayson Commercial Bank, Something Sassy (above the HairLoft) 612 U.S. Rt. 60 Morehead, and Chris’s Guitar Shop, 427 Flemingsburg Road in Morehead.
