Eight indicted by grand jury

April 2, 2008 The Carter County Grand Jury indicted eight individuals on February 12, on a total of 35 counts.

• Katherine Gumm, 35, of Highway 60, Olive Hill, was indicted on one count of second-degree arson for starting a fire with intent to destroy a home owned by M.A.G., second-degree burglary for unlawfully entering the dwelling house, and tampering with evidence when she removed evidence in an attempt to conceal her arson attempt.

• Delina Jessie Wilson, 43, of Highway 60, Olive Hill, was indicted on one count of second-degree arson when he aided and counseled Katherine Gumm in starting a fire with intent to destroy a house owned by M.A.G., and complicity to second-degree burglary when she aided and counseled Katherine Gumm in unlawfully entering a house owned by M.A.G.

• Delina Jessie Wilson, 43, of West Highway 60, Olive Hill, was indicted on three counts of obtaining a controlled substance with a false statement to obtain a prescription when she presented a written prescription for a controlled substance in Carter County, and obtained a controlled substance after having obtained a prescription and knowingly misrepresenting information to the doctors.

• John A. Evans, 81, of West US 60, Olive Hill, was indicted on ten counts of obtaining a controlled substance with a false statement to obtain a prescription, when he presented a written prescription for a controlled substance in Carter County and obtained a controlled substance after having obtained a prescription from a doctor and knowingly misrepresenting information to the doctor.

• James R. Poth, 40, of Hwy. 1620, Olive Hill was indicted on second degree arson, when he started a fire in his own home with intent thereby to destroy or damage the building in order to collect insurance proceeds, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon when he possessed a firearm having been previously convicted of a felony, and a second degree persistent felony offender, having been convicted of a felony within the last five years.

• Aurther K. Nelson, 27, of State Highway 1 South, Grayson, was indicted for first-degree rape when he engage in sexual intercourse through the use of forcible compulsion, first-degree wanton endangerment when he pointed a loaded gun at the victim, and first-degree unlawful imprisonment by restraining the liberty of the female in order to rape her.

• Jeffrey Fryer, 31, of Fryer Hollow, Grayson, was indicted on one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, when he unlawfully sold Oxycodone.

• Dustin Campbell, age unknown, of Canoe Run, Grayson was indicted on first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, when he unlawfully sold Oxycodone.

• Rhonda Zornes, 41, of State Highway 396, Olive Hill, was indicted on five counts of obtaining a controlled substance with a false statement to obtain a prescription, when she presented a written prescription for a controlled substance in Carter County, and obtained a controlled substance after having obtained a prescription from doctors by knowingly misrepresenting information to doctors.

Note: An indictment does not prove guilt.
