To the Editor,
I attended a funeral recently of an American Veteran, who served during the Vietnam war era and I feel like he was not honored for service. The services were conducted in Grayson. I do not blame the funeral home for the lack of honor, but for not following through to "make sure" it was handled properly.
This man served his country, and I feel he should have been given, only what he deserved upon his death, which was a 21-gun salute and other veterans to pay respect. I would encourage all families of veterans to follow through with your funeral directors to "make sure" they are honored and respected for what they have done for us. As US citizens, we owe them their honor. I personally would like to thank the family of Jimmy Pennington, for his service and I salute him, and thank him for protecting me and my family.
Thank you Jimmy Pennington.
