Community needs to consider zoning changes

Oct. 16, 2013 — The editor:

Having attended the zoning board meeting referred to in this article it must be pointed out that the Zoning Board did not approve or give seal of approval to this venture, it was determined that it was within existing zoning regulations. It is my opinion that a change is needed to address future placement and operations of this type of facility.

As explained to us, if operated according to the plan outlined it might be acceptable to the community. However, the possibility of future changes in type of residents accepted needs consideration to prevent those convicted of violent or other serious crimes from being placed here in this or other facilities.

Carter County needs to give some thought to this as well. The opinion expressed here is mine only and may not represent that of any other Planning and Zoning Board member.
