Support "Stuff the Bus" to help school kids

June 19, 2013 — The editor:

I would like to invite each of you to join me in a community project that has been on my mind for some time. Papa John's and GO Radio have joined forces to bring school supplies to a great organization, the Carter County Bridges Family Resource Center, along with the Back Pack Program.

We are proud to announce “Stuff the Bus.” We are asking you and your employees to help us fill a school bus with school supplies and snacks for the back packs.

Another way that you can help is to purchase a seat for $25. For every seat that is purchased, the name will be entered into a drawing for catered lunch from Papa Johns for 12-15 people.

We also plan to bring a bus to various locations, and your name will be put on the window of the seat(s) that you purchase.

We also will have two drop off points, Papa John's and the radio station for individuals or groups interested in helping in the endeavor.

There are 10 schools in Carter County and our goal is to raise $1,000 in cash or supplies for each school. Checks should be made out to “Stuff the Bus” and mailed to 215 South Carol Malone Blvd., Grayson, KY 41143.

For convenience I'm including a small list of items needed.

School supplies; notebook paper, pencils, pens, crayons, highlighters, folders, index cards, composition pads, etc.

Food for backpacks; Pop Tarts, crackers, microwave popcorn, easy mac, bucket meals, individual oatmeal, breakfast bars, pudding, fruit chews etc. (items that have a long shelf life but please NO peanut products)

Thank you in advance for your support in this endeavor. Please share this information with any churches, clubs or organizations that may be interested.
