Alcohol sales would hurt Grayson citizens

June 5, 2013 — The editor:

My name is Donald Edward Bays. I am the father of Donald Keith Bays. I love my son, but when you are wrong, you are wrong.

There is no way that Grayson will be better off if it is voted wet. Alcoholic drinks have never been a friend to anyone. Homes have been destroyed by alcohol. People die because of alcohol. I have watched this happen.

My sister came from her home, beaten almost to death by her husband, because of his drunkenness. I have seen my college friends puke their guts out with a hangover. My wife lost her mother when she was 15 months old to a drunk driver.

You might say well they can get it in Ashland, and they can. But why is that a reason to put it in Grayson?

I am 73 years old and I have never had my first beer or any other type of alcoholic drink, and I do not plan to in the future. I do not feel I have missed out on anything in my life by not drinking alcoholic drinks.

Dear Grayson friends, will you please vote no. I have no vote.

Donald Bays
