July 11, 2012 —
After revisiting walk-in statistics and in dept discussion concerning operating costs, beginning Saturday July 7, 2012, the Carter County Public Library will no longer be open on Saturdays.
Please remember our intent is not to inhibit access but to make the best use of the dollars available for our operation. If you require library services on Saturdays, please visit the Young Library on the campus of Kentucky Christian University or one of the libraries in our neighboring counties (Boyd, Greenup or Rowan).
Any of the aforementioned libraries will issue a card to the Public of Carter County as long as their account with us is in good standing. Good standing means that you have $5.00 or less in fines presently on your account with Carter County. The other libraries also have to verify your account standing before issuing the card, so make arrangements early. We will revisit being open on Saturdays later in the fall. The bookmobile will continue its usual runs on Saturdays.
I want to publically apologize to the library board for inadvertently posting the announcement on the library’s FaceBook page before hitting the send button within my email.
Any questions or concerns regarding the change in schedule, please do not hesitate to give me a call at 606-286-8070.
Nellie Jordan, Director
