Heritage Trail Ride successful

Journal-Times

Sept. 18, 2013 — The editor:

An enormous “thank-you” to all the folks who helped make our Heritage Trail Ride a great success – we had around 100 riders and are so very happy you came– and to those who supported and contributed to making the Depot into a trailhead/ tourist center under our Flex-E grant project this year. Thinking of the way that people just stepped in, generously giving of time & talent, brings me to tears!

Giving gratitude is a daunting task. Someone is always left out! But here goes. . .

For planning, prepping, supporting, promoting and staffing our Heritage Trail Ride and festivities: Jesse Oney, Terry Reynolds, Janice Hicks, Nici Raybourn, Jackie Clevenger, Cory Claxon, J. D. & Debbie Rayburn, Roger Hanshaw, Stephanie Hicks, Nellie Jordan, Angie Messer Fultz, Joey Back, West Carter Y-Club, West Carter Beta Club, Linda Lowe, Sherry Campbell & Speedway, the Olive Hill Times, the Eastern Kentucky Voice, WUGO, Madison Harris, Tiffany Porter, New Mercies, Mallory Aronhalt, Pam Hanshaw, NRA, Wes Hedge, Brent Wilburn, Cory & Angela Phelps, Eastern Hills Saddle Club, Bro. Jim Muncy. . . and the Tyler’s delivery driver who was able to chase down the group during the ride!

And the event simply would not have been possible without our sponsors: Smith’s Hardware, the Olive Hill Times, Scenic Hills Realty, Three Pine Stables, Stephens’ Farm Supply, Rep. Jill York, Sen. Robin Webb, First National Bank, Rock’s Auto Sales, Commercial Bank, Walker’s Family Restaurant, Carter Co. Shrine Club, American Legion Post 138, Smith’s Insulation, Tyler’s Pizza, Porter’s Tire & Auto, Fisher’s Auto Sales, Brandon’s Auto Care, Raybourn’s Auto Parts, John’s Garage, Randall Baker Family Dentistry, Horton & Brown Pharmacy, Globe Feed, Olive Hill Chamber of Commerce, West Side Storage, Craig’s Auto Sales, Retro Salon, Carroll’s Excavating, Patrick Flannery Co. Atty., & Carter Co. Career & Technical Center.

For outstanding contributions in helping to create a park at the Depot so that it can be used as a trailhead/ tourism center: Mayor Kenny Fankell, City Foreman Eddie Reynolds & the City of Olive Hill; Greg Greenhill, Greenhill Excavating; Jackie Clevenger, Architectural Planning & Design; Paul Amburgey, E. L. Robinson Engineering; Ed Cook, Cook’s Crafts, with Lloyd Bond & Paul Tussey; Robert Addington with Sen. Robin Webb; Aaron Dickerson, Aaron’s Concrete; Jesse Oney; Lorne Gearhart; Rick Porter, R. & D. Railroad.

The support for and spirit of the Trail Town initiative has been nothing short of phenomenal. Thank you, thank you, to everyone working on its behalf! And just as many thanks to those who attended this trail ride event!
