Memories of brother, "Bud" Stapleton

July 24, 2013 — The editor:

To those who knew and loved my brother, Carl "Bud" Stapleton of Grayson, his funeral was held July 6, 2013.

His obituary ommitted that he was a Christian and a member and trustee of Gilbert Chapel Church on Everman Creek in Grayson. He supported the church where our mother and father attended. My brothers and I were raised in church and Sunday school and our life for Christ is all that will stand in the judgement.

I told Bud on his deathbed that I loved him and he said, "I love you, too sis."

I said, "All I can do is pray for you."

He said, "Thank you."

The last time I saw him he couldn't speak. I laid my hand on his face and said "I love you." He opened his eyes and gave me the biggest smile, and I hope I can see that smile for as long as I live.

He loved to go to church, but couldn't see to drive after dark. He loved music and good singing and his favorite song was "Supper Time." They would always sing it for him.

He was so sick for so long, but there is no more sickness, pain, sadness, or abuse. I can't do any more for him in this life, but I can go be with him in the next life.

I pray you will have the heart to give comfort to the grieving you meet along the way. One day you will lose a loved one and a kind word or a hug will mean so much. We covet your prayers.
