To the Editor:
Thank God for answering the many prayers that went up asking for the beautiful weather that He provided despite the weatherman’s call for rain on Friday; for the safety of all workers, vendors and visitors; for the many visitors that came by to visit, eat, browse, buy, trade or just to show their encouragement and support for what we at Papaw’s Country Kitchen are attempting to do.
Many new friends were made during the Willard Trade Days event and we pray that those friendships will continue to be enjoyed over the years to come. As the community came together there were many old friendships renewed as many had not met for upwards of twenty years and more and many reminisced about their childhood days while growing up in Willard. The many stages of growth and changes that have taken place in this small community over the past fifty years were the topic of many conversations held during the weekend. There were many hopes and dreams expressed about what was needed to get and keep this small town a place to enjoy and to be proud to call home. We at Papaw’s want to be a part of these hopes and dreams and to be a part of the community willing to work with each other to see that this is something that is very possible.
Several of our vendors asked if it were possible to set up on a smaller scale each weekend as Willard Flea Market and it was suggested that we hold annual Willard Trade Days in the spring and fall each year. As to the first question, I see no problem with the Flea Market each weekend, as we have available space and weather permits. Just give us a call at the restaurant between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm on Mon-Wed and 10 am -8 pm on Thur-Sat. As to the second question, Papaw will have to wait to see how long it takes him to get over this weekends event. If the good Lord permits we will have the 2nd Annual Willard Trade Days next fall and if there appears to be enough interest we could possibly have a spring trade days early in the month of May. Just give us a call at Papaw’s (606-474-8186) and let us know what you think about it.
