Are you involved with your local chamber of commerce? Chambers of Commerce are a great way to make business contacts and even friends. It is a time where local business owners can discuss problems, solutions, and ideas for the community. Historically, it has been Chambers of Commerce that have made history. Such as Lindbergh’s “Spirit of St. Louis,” where he contacted the head of the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce. He knew that if he could support of the city’s residents and government it could be major history for St. Louis, and it was.
Locally, the Olive Hill Chamber of Commerce is responsible for putting on the annual Homecoming Parade and accompanying events, as well as the 4th of July Fireworks. Your local chamber is working on major projects for the community this year. One of our goals is to bring the public access channel back online, and possibly live-streaming local events, government meetings, and webcams of Olive Hill.
The Olive Hill Chamber of Commerce is also active in local civic organizations, such as the Olive Hill Trail Town initiative, Olive Hill Historical Society, and the Carter County Public Library. All of these organizations have dedicated volunteers determined to improve the City of Olive Hill and Carter County.
There has never been a better time to get involved. Email Cory at CoryClaxon@OliveHillChamber.org if you are interested in joining the Chamber.
