For anyone who ties up the laces and hits the hardwood, it is their dream to play at the next level. For East Carter’s Nolan Adams, that dream is now a reality.
The senior from Grayson signed his name on the dotted line Friday to play College Basketball at Kentucky Christian University at a ceremony with family, coaches and teammates in attendance.
“I’m excited about being able to continue to play the sport I love,” Adams said. “It’s a great opportunity and I’ll always be able to cherish the fact that I get to extend my career a little further.”
Adams helped the Raiders to an 11-18 season in his final campaign with East Carter. He was planning on attending KCU in the fall but his love for the game pointed him to the direction of Coach Ron Reed about potentially playing for the Knights.
“This is one of the most important parts of our program is that we have good people playing for us,” Kentucky Christian Coach Ron Reed said. “Nolan is a good teammate. He’ll be a role player and have an opportunity to improve and play basketball, the sport that he loves.”
For Coach Brandon Baker, getting to see one of his players graduate to the next level is very rewarding.
“Anytime you can have a player advance to the next level and have a chance to continue to play basketball is a good thing for our program,” Baker said. “Nolan is going to be a good player for him. He’s only going to get better and he’s a good asset for their basketball team.”
Under Baker’s wing, Adams helped grow in to his role as defensive player, something that he will take with him to KCU.
“East has always been strict defensively and I think that defense is one of the most important parts of the game,” Adams said. “I enjoy playing defense and hopefully I’ll be able to do that at KCU as well.”
Adams knows he will have a chance to play a big role for his new team in the coming years.
“I’ll do whatever I can to make us a winning team,” Adams said. “Getting wins and getting better. That’s all that matters to me.”
