Dec. 11, 2013 — After finishing the 2013 season strong and securing his 400th win, KCU Volleyball Head Coach Bruce Dixon was named NCCAA - II Mideast Region and National Coach of the Year.
Coach Dixon was able to lead the Lady Knights to yet another Regional Championship this year, making this his sixth consecutive season with 20 or more wins.
In total, Dixon was able to lead the squad to a 28-13 season, losing only one regular season match to NCCAA-II opponents, win the Mid-East Region Championship Tournament, and secure the No. 1 seed going into the NCCAA-II National Championship Tournament, and finished 5th in the Nation.
Regarding Bruce’s accomplishments this year KCU President Dr. Jeff Metcalf said, "Coach Dixon has proven remarkably consistent in fielding volleyball teams that proudly represent Kentucky Christian University both on and off the court. Under his leadership, the Lady Knights have enjoyed unparalleled competitive success while simultaneously setting the standard for classroom excellence among KCU student athletes.”
“Regional and national NCCAA committees look primarily at competitive achievements when determining Coach of the Year, but the success Bruce has enjoyed in developing young women as academic pacesetters, as Christian leaders, and as servants of Christ, makes his recognition as both the Mid-East Regional and the National Coaches of the Year all the more fitting."
