July 24, 2013 — The Kentucky Christian University Volleyball team recently added two more standouts to the Lady Knights program for this upcoming fall.
Mariah Compton and Abigail McIlhany signed the dotted line to join the KCU Family.
Lady Knight’s Volleyball Coach Bruce Dixon recently was in central Ohio to sign Compton, a star at Amanda-Clearcreek. Compton is a 5’6” setter who has several years of club experience, as well as being a leader in her high school program.
“She has a ton of volleyball experience, and is gifted athletically. She has the kind of attitude and experience that we are looking for, and I expect her to challenge for playing time very quickly,” Coach Dixon said about adding Compton to his squad.
Abigail McIlhany is an outside hitter for an Illinois Juniors club that recently won a Chicago Power League 18's Championship, and formerly played for the Antioch Juniors club. During her senior season, she was a team captain for the Antioch Community High School Sequoits.
When Coach Dixon traveled to metro-Chicago for the signing, he was able to see McIlhany play, and was witness to her Illinois Juniors club championship victory.
"Abby has solid club experience, and she brings a depth of talent that will allow her to compete for playing time immediately. She has a good sense for the game, and she meshed well with the team when she visited," Dixon said of his new outside hitter.
Compton and McIlhany becomes the eighth and ninth signee to commit to KCU Volleyball. Among the others to sign are Rowan County’s Shelby Adams and Taylor Conn, Clara Chafins from Johnson Central, Bethany Martin from Spencer County, Annika and Kenzie Rigney from Modesto, Ca., and Tommi Butler from Rock Hill, Oh.
