KCU performance next week

Nov. 13, 2013 — Area residents will be treated to some excellent choral music Tuesday, Nov. 19. The Kentucky Christian University Concert Choir will give a performance at the First Church of Christ in Grayson at 7 p.m.

Conducted by Mr. Pyoung Kim, the ensemble will be singing spirituals, arrangements of traditional songs, a selection from the German Requiem by Brahms, and several rousing Southern and African-American Gospel anthems.

The KCU Concert Choir has gained a reputation as a superb choral ensemble. For the past twelve years the group has given Christmas performances that have become very popular, and has performed for numerous churches and music organizations throughout the Southeast United States.

They have frequently appeared in performance in New York City, and have been featured in numerous recordings produced by Brentwood-Benson Music Publications of Nashville, Tennessee.

The current director of the choir, Mr. Pyoung Kim, has conducted choral ensembles in South Korea, Seattle, and San Jose. He has studied conducting in Seoul with Chang-Hun Park and shin-wha Park. During his doctoral studies at University of Washington, Mr. Kim has studied with Geoffrey Boers, Giselle Wyers and Steven Demorest.
