During a hearing Monday in Carter Circuit Court, Judge Rebecca Phillips gave attorneys for the city of Grayson and former Police Chief Keith Hill until May 14 to present their written presentations concerning the why or why not Hill should be reappointed as chief. Hill was demoted to patrolman April 2 after serving as chief since October 2001.
HillÕs attorney Michael A. Frye of Russell has until May 9 to complete and turn in the presentation and City Attorney Jeffery Scott has until May 14.
Phillips did issue the restraining order put in place April 21 to stay in place, preventing defendants Mayor George Steele and the City of Grayson from hiring anyone else for the position.
Following the hearing, Hill spoke with the media and said he plans to remain as police chief for as long as he can. ÒI have been here for 20 years working for the police force,Ó he said. ÒI didnÕt do anything wrong and I will continue to be here for as long as they will let me.Ó
