Holler Down the Holler poetry slam held its first event of 2019 on Saturday, starting off the year fresh and growing with three first-time participants taking home prize money.
Jamieson Oakley took third place, with a score of 23.8, followed in second by Amber Coyle, with a 24.1. Cynthia Handlose, a last-minute entrant pulled from the audience, took home first place with a score of 25.7.
There were familiar faces as well, including Leonard Poage, who made it into the final round during each of the previous events, and the eponymous Wandy, with a strong showing in both the first and second rounds.
Zack Kouns and Elizabeth Burge offered a musical interlude with guitar, violin and vocals between the competitive rounds.
