Oct. 8, 2010 — Mr. Burl Cox

1922 – 2010

LAWTON – Mr. Burl Cox, 88, formerly of Lawton, Ky, passed away Oct. 9, at the Gables Nursing Home in Marysville, Ohio.

Mr. Cox was born January 27, 1922, in Lawton, Ky, a son of the late Leonard Cox and the late Cora Cline Cox Johnson.

Mr. Cox was a member of the Beartown Church of God for forty-six years. He also served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon at the church. He worked at the Olive Hill General Refractory for many years and served his country in the Army. .

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Della M. Caudill Cox; one grandson, Bryan Cox; six brothers, Dep Cox, Floyd Cox, Willard Cox, Virgil Cox, Wade Cox, and Lester Cox; one sister, Gladys Cox; and one son-in-law, Garland Thomas.

Mr. Cox is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Marilyn Cox of Crestline, Ohio, and Darrell and Cathy Cox of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patty Thomas of Catlettsburg, Ky, and Linda and Rodney Riffe of Marysville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Chris Cox, Tara Cox Koontz, Mary Beth Cox, Matthew L. Riffe, Jessica L. Cox Thompson, and Melanie S. Riffe; and four great grandchildren, Darien Koontz, Kerstin Koontz, Logan T. Cox, and Olivia G. Thompson.

He also leaves several other family members, church family, and friends who will truly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. October 13, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Ky, with Brother Justin Wagoner and Brother Elijah Wagoner officicating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery on Mushroom Hill in Lawton, Ky.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Charlene Henderson Ward

1943 – 2010

VANCEBURG – Charlene Henderson Ward, 66, of Holly Branch, Vanceburg, Ky, passed away Monday, October 4, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Ky.

She was born Nov. 26, 1943, in South Portsmouth, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Hoberg Henderson.

Charlene was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Robalene SueAnn McClurg; two sisters, Judy Henderson and Pauline Louise Scaff; and two grandchildren, John Phillip Stone and Robert Mackenzie Ward.

She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Robert "Bob" Ward; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert Ward, Jr. and Marty of Jefferson, Ky, Shawn E. Ward of Portsmouth, Oho, Anthony Bryant Ward and Mary of Newark, Ohio, Jeremy Wayne Ward and Bobbi of Newark, Ohio, and Roy Ryan Ward of Vanceburg, Ky, one daughter, Tammy Sue Stone of Garrison, Ky, nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; six brothers, Charles Andres Henderson, Jr. Of Somerset, Ky, James Vincent Henderson of Springfield, Kentucky, William Benjamin Henderson of Garrison, Kentucky, Richard Lee Henderson of Miamisburg, Ohio, Ronald D. Henderson of Florida, and Donald G. Henderson of Texas; and three sisters, Cheryl Ann Ackles of Ripley, Ohio, Sandra D. Radecki of Titusville, Pennsylvania, and Catherine Lynn Roe of North Baltimore, Ohio. Charlene also leaves numerous other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.

A memorial service was held  October 7, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, Kentucky, with Brother Carl Wells officiating.
