Water district manager fired
The Journal-Times learned Friday that the manager of Rattlesnake Ridge Water District was fired six weeks ago in the wake of financial irregularities.
Grayson RECC rate increase approved
FRANKFORT – The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved a request by Grayson Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (Grayson RECC) for a rate increase that will allow the utility to maintain its financial stability.
In an order issued Wednesday, the PSC authorized Grayson RECC to raise rates to generate additional annual revenue of $1.93 million. The allowed increase is about $130,000 less than the amount requested by the utility.

Relay for Life Friday in Olive Hill
The 18th annual Relay For Life of Carter County is scheduled from 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, to 7 a.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Carter County Shrine Club Horse Show Park in Olive Hill.
This year’s event is promising to be a great time for the whole family, according to Christy Bowling, chair of Relay for Life.

In something of a surprise, Grayson voters decided Tuesday by a count of 511-393 to resume the legal sale of alcoholic beverages for the first time since all of Carter County voted itself “dry” in 1937.
