A former Carter County Sheriff's deputy was arrested Friday and charged with first degree sodomy, second degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and first degree official misconduct.
Matt Morrison, 38, of Grayson, turned himself in at the Carter County Detention Center.
Morrison had been a deputy with the sheriff’s office since October 2010.
According to records obtained by the Journal-Times, Morrison was terminated from his position as a full-time deputy on Feb. 8. However, no reason for the termination was given.
Sheriff Casey Brammell said Friday he had been made aware of Morrison's alleged actions and had turned the investigation over to another agency.
Brammell declined further comment on the case, but did surrender documents to the Journal-Times after an open records request was filed.
No indication of criminal activity or previous disciplinary action was present in the surrendered documents.
