The Department of Local Government contacted the Journal-Times early Wednesday morning to deny involvement with an ordinance passed in Boyd and Carter counties on Tuesday.
The ordinance, which creates the Northeast Jail Authority, was sprung on both Fiscal Courts during regular monthly meetings.
DLG Commissioner Tony Wilder told the Journal-Times the story that appeared in Wednesday's Journal-Times was inaccurate. In it, Carter County Attorney Patrick Flannery said he was under the impression that the ordinance was drafted by the DLG.

“We had nothing to do with that at all,” Wilder said. “We don't want anything to do with that because it is a local decision. They have an attorney that drafted the ordinance.”
Flannery said on Tuesday that he was unaware of the ordinance until it was mentioned at the meeting.
