June 8, 2012 — A Rush man was arrested during a Flatwoods raid on an alleged drug cartel from Detroit.

Thursday, detectives with the F.A.D.E. Drug Task Force along with officers from the Flatwoods and Russell Police Departments conducted an undercover investigation at an apartment on Argillite Road in Flatwoods.

Inside authorities found a large amount of prescription pain pills, a large amount of cash and a loaded handgun.

Jason Lucas, 26, of Rush, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and engaging in organized crime.

Ebony Pugh, 22, of Detroit, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, engaging in organized crime, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in a legend drug.

Marcel Smith McCoy, 21, of Detroit, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, engaging in organized crime, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in a legend drug.

David Spears, 38, of Wurtland, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, engaging in organized crime, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in a legend drug.

Detectives say the arrests are another break in the pipe line of prescription pain pills from Detroit to the Tri-State area.

F.A.D.E. Detectives continue to investigate and further charges and more arrests are expected.
