Oct. 15, 2012 — UPDATE: During a search of the scene a wallet was located which contained identification and additional credentials. At this time positive identification has not been made and is pending further examination by the Kentucky Medical Examiners Office. Additional details will be released as they become available.
Remains of an unidentified person were discovered on a hillside near Grayson Lake on Sunday.
The Kentucky State Police said hikers found the remains near Clifty Creek, which were recovered just after 11 p.m.
Troopers on the scene said the body would be taken to the State Medical Examiner in Frankfort for identification.
KSP officers were assisted by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Carter County Sheriff's Office, Carter County Coroner George Sparks and the Grayson Dive Team.
The case remains under investigation by KSP Det. Ben Cramer.
