Many in Carter County are without power Wednesday morning after a night of freezing rain and sleet.
Motorists are advised to travel with caution and watch for downed trees on roadways, according to the State Department of Transportation. Crews are continuing to patrol and respond to debris, flooding and mudslides on state highways throughout the northeast Kentucky region.
In Carter, KY 1444, KY 59 and KY 986 have downed trees in power lines. Flooding also is blocking KY 986.
Most recently, KY 719 and KY 706 in Elliott County have been blocked to through traffic.
Over night, Grayson Volunteer Fire Department responded to more than 20 weather-related calls. Car accidents, downed trees and power lines and high water were all attributed to freezing rain.
