Sept. 13, 2012 — Several Grayson residents have discovered they are victims to bank card hacking.
The Grayson Police Department is conducting an investigation into unauthorized purchases that were seemingly made online and across the country.
“Several people have already reported that their accounts have been breached,” Det. Sgt. Travis Steele told the Journal-Times. “There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how the victims were targeted, because it wasn’t from a particular bank, or from a particular business.”
Steele said that residents should be vigilant about checking their bank accounts for unusual transactions, and contact the GPD if they believe they are a victim.
GPD is working in conjunction with other investigative agencies, so the exact number of victims is unknown. However, Steele expects more people to make similar reports in the near future.
