Feb. 25, 2013 — The victim of a fatal car accident on Saturday will be remembered on Wednesday.
Lewis John “Johnny” Fankell, 17, of Grayson, was operating a Pontiac Firebird eastbound on Mayhew Flats Road when he lost control of the vehicle, traveled over an embankment and struck a tree. Mr. Fankell was pronounced deceased at the scene by Carter County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Wallace.
Fankell, who played baseball for East Carter High School, was the son of Thomas and Rachel (Burton) Fankell.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. at Harold D. Holbrook Athletic Complex, East Carter High School.
Friends may call from 6 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at ECHS. Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of the arrangements.
Kentucky State Police Tpr. Shane Copley is the investigating officer.
