Sept. 23, 2012 — During last Tuesday’s regular meeting, the Olive Hill City Council unanimously voted in favor of requesting an Attorney General investigation into the operations of all city-owned utilities.
The vote comes on the heels of a Sept. 12 Journal-Times article outlining numerous questionable electric rate increases over the previous six years.
Councilman Kenny Fankell introduced the motion, which received a quick second from outgoing Council member Tony Williams.
“We have nothing to hide,” said Fankell in his comments to a packed house at the senior citizen’s center.
The process still remains unclear as to which particular city official is responsible for initiating the investigation request.
As of Friday, no contact from the city had been made with Attorney General Jack Conway’s Office according to AG Director of Communications Allison Martin.
