The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating the death of a Carter County man due to a logging accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Webbville.
Joseph D. Adams, 49, of Webbville, was pronounced deceased by Carter County Deputy Coroner as a result of the injuries he received from the accident.
According to witnesses, Adams was operating a log skidder on a steep terrain in a wooded area near Webbville when the equipment malfunctioned, causing it to descend down the hill. Adams allegedly attempted to jump from the machinery but failed to clear it.
An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s office; however, no criminal activity is suspected.
Detective Ben Cramer is the investigating officer.
