Aug. 3, 2013 — I-64 between Morehead and Olive Hill was blocked four hours Saturday afternoon when a three-vehicle pileup claimed the life of a Nicholasville woman.

Kentucky State Police said Betty Mullins, 47, apparently lost control of her 2012 Kia Sorrento, crossed the median into the westbound lanes and collided with a tractor-trailer rig.

Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt pronounced her dead at the scene.

The truck driver and a passenger were not injured.

Two occupants of the third vehicle, Bart Taylor and Glenna Taylor of Oakland, Ill., were transported to St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead and later airlifted to UK Medical Center where they were reported in stable condition.

Rowan County EMS and Morehead and Olive Hill fire departments provided assistance at the scene near mile marker 143, six miles east of Morehead.

The accident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Toby Gardner.
